REVOLVER MAG: WATCH BRIAN POSEHN’S HILARIOUS “NEW MUSIC SUCKS” VIDEO

Weird Al, Patton Oswalt, Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman guest-star

“New music sucks.” So goes the chant-along chorus to Brian Posehn‘s song titled with that phrase. It’s a sentiment that many metalheads subscribe to, especially when “new music” means “new pop music.” The song appears on Posehn’s 2020 album of music and comedy, Grandpa Metal, which features a murderers row of big-name metalheads: Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Testament’s Chuck Billy and Amon Amarth’s Johan Hegg, to name just a few.

Today (January 7th), Posehn has teamed with Revolver to unveil the hilarious video for “New Music Sucks.” The clip is star-studded in its own right, featuring cameos from Weird Al Yankovic, Patton Oswalt and Fall out Boy’s Joe Trohman. It also sees Posehn impersonating — and skewering — a host of today’s biggest pop stars: Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Lil Nas X and many more. Watch above.

For more Posehn, pick up the Winter 2020 issue of Revolver. Inside, the comedian reunites with his longtime pal Rob Zombie, who appears on one of the magazine’s collectible covers, for a wide-ranging interview. The Zombie issue is available in a special fan bundle featuring a limited-edition slipcase, alternative cover and an exclusive 7-inch single of “The Triumph of King Freak (A Crypt of Preservation and Superstition)” on white vinyl. It’s limited to 300 worldwide so get yours before they’re gone!

Brian Posehn interviews Rob Zombie in the Winter 2020 edition of Revolver Magazine – On Sale Now!

The COVID pandemic has had Rob Zombie bunkered down with his wife, Sheri Moon, at their other home in Connecticut. There since March, he says it’s “the longest I’ve ever been stuck in one place ever in my life because usually there’s a tour or something.” There are no tours on the horizon, but there is a new album, Zombie’s seventh solo LP and first in five years, coming soon: The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy. Ahead of its release, we reunited the “monster metal” icon with comedian Brian Posehn, who is not only a friend but also a collaborator, having appeared as the ill-fated Jimmy in 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects. Their wide-ranging conversation underscored that, to Zombie, horror is no laughing matter.

The new Winter 2020 issue also comes with alternate collectible covers featuring Poppy and Ghostemane (available now via our store), as well as stories on Iron Maiden, Melvins, Nothing, Nova Twins, Dying Wish, Hjelvik, Tom Morello and Adam Jones’ shared love of Eddie Van Halen, and more.
